Simba Birthday Part II

Just discovered that the previous entry has broken links and now it's fixed. :D Please refer back to my previous post.



One more month left to scout for a few maxi skirts to wear to work after my surgery. I figured that the knee brace would be humongous and that any attempt to hide it under my jeans would fail. I could only wear maxi skirts and pray that no one would discover my knee brace. I have many maxi dresses but they just seem abit too much to wear to the research lab.

To be utterly frank, although I didn't voice out my fears to my friends, I am starting to feel the withdrawal symptoms from the surgery as the days drew nearer. To depress my unnecessary anxiety,  I found many articles which got me comforted about General Anesthesia and the post-surgery pains. Not too much of a never-wake-up-from-sleep fuss and not much pain. But u know actually I should be proud of being able to experience physical therapy and surgery. Not everyone has the chance to. Like have you ever thought of yourself learning how to walk down the stairs? It is supposed to be a natural instinct isn't it? I have developed a psychological fear in walking down the stairs normally, so much so that the physiotherapist has to calm me down and encourage me to bend my knees in the right manner so that I could walk down the stairs like the others.

On one of the showcases was a wedding gown which created emphasis on the back details. The flowers formed an outline of a heart shape.







A photo of Zoe Tay and her husband on their wedding day drew my attention. So pretty!







And since the next programme was still sometime ahead, we went around the museum premises to take more pictures.

That day was also the day of Resident Evil premiere screening, so you can imagine my eagerness to watch it after dinner.
And our dinner was at ichiban boshi, a restaurant that I found online which has mostly positive reviews, so we had to give it an opportunity to impress us.





We didn't have a easy time finding this restaurant as it was situated opposite the taxi stand outside Taka. Found its name in the mall directory, walked for ages before we eventually found it in that awkward location.






He was craving for some fish since lunch and once I told him we would be going to a jap restaurant, he immediately thought of savoring saba fish. This was him pointing at the picture of the tempting looking fishhead. He didn't order it in the end since I don't like the thought of any fish in my mouth.









While waiting for our dinner, he opened the presents and wasn't very surprised to see a water bottle as one of them since he long wanted a bottle from me. He was saying that a water bottle would be sufficient as his present of this year but was so filled with disappointment as he thought it was the sole present. I can think of one good Chinese idiom now: 口是心非.

His face glowed after the realization of another gift sank in.
The bebe perfume was a sample given to me by the salesman when I decided on buying the Mont Blanc perfume. This perfume was the only one I could accept (I'm allergic to perfume) since it gives off a relatively light fruity orange-like smell, among the many I sampled.














Our food came and it was when my camera ran out of battery. :(

Got conned by Jun Wen into trying the prawn sushi when he said it wasn't raw and once the taste got into my  conscious, the prawn was already puked out by me and then came the time when I could drink water at the fastest speed in the attempt to flush off the uninspiring smell. :D 






Seafood in a hot plate. The mix of lemon with squid enlightened my sense of taste. 




Cheese balls which are nice but might get you tired of them after a few bites.








We would order too much and ended up with leftovers.









What is a birthday without cakes?
We shared a small American Cheesecake as dessert and we love it! :D

Simba's 26th Birthday Part I

Once we got to know the day of my surgery, my parents began drawing up a duty roster for every member in the family to take up shifts in taking care of me for weeks after my surgery. Simba was added into the weekend shift without his consent which made it seem like he was compelled into not having his own programmes for at least 4 weeks after my surgery.
Won't be able to meet u guys for sometime until I have fully recovered. :D But I will attend the 2 weddings scheduled in November, 2-3 weeks after my surgery.



How we celebrated his birthday.
I took a day off for his birthday but had to return to work for awhile in the morning, go for my appointment with the surgeon and pick up something I bought online. So by the time I was done, it was almost 2pm in the noon. To save time, we took a cab to our first stop, the wedding dress exhibition in National Museum of Singapore.

There is a discount for students but I denied being a student when the ticketing counter staff asked. I was so afraid that I got exposed somehow, and if so I would feel so embarrassed and dumbfounded.

On display were the photo shoots donated by couples who had their wedding based on themes like "Under the arch" where they had their photo shoots below the arch of churches, or "Stairway to love" where they posed near an elegant staircase.







Couples who chose the church, mosque or temple as their photoshoot background.

The exhibition puts displays of wedding dresses in chronological order.
The first few dresses we saw were found in the 18th century. Don't you think that they have been so well maintained even after so long?








The dress with prints was tailored for poorer people who can't afford silk. These people sewed together cloth they bought from the street shops. Quite cute and comfy to me actually. :D






Floral headdress worn in weddings.
They are so much like the recent in-fashion hairband decorated with flowers and of course so pretty!







Wedding boots. Reminds us of the victorian age doesn't it?









Look at the lacy details of this dress.
I start to think that perhaps the fashion nowsadays has something to do with going back to the past and then creatively amending the old fashioned into a fresh, new style.

The ancient wedding garter. A garter is a narrow band of fabric used to keep up stockings.

I might buy something similar to this pair (not in white of course) if I intend to visit countries during winter.













Went wowed over this pair of shoes. They are so pretty, aren't they?
The colour, the ribbons, the floral pattern and how the straps crossed over and formed an interaction between the ribbons were all of my liking!









The bubble wedding dress. Something that I will look out for in a wedding dress but of course my preference is still a white one.








Then they move on to a more modern era where wedding dresses are more casual and where short is the new long.








Lace headdress! Anything with lace is my favourite! (Simba would comment that everything I like resembles table cloth or granny's dress.)








Another pair of wedding boots I really love, where emphasis is on the oversized ribbons, bringing out the cuteness of such shoes.

One Singaporean lady got married in this unique gown. Nowsadays gowns are more revealing and shorter but this is long-sleeved but the modern touch to it would be the short and tight fitting gown confined by the sheer maxi fish-tail dress.






Balloons really beautify and brighten up the whole atmosphere, aside from all the excitement and happinesses seen from the smiles of friends and relatives of this couple.

He climbed up the statue outside the museum despite my efforts of warning him against it.
He is such a monkey. I remembered how he swung from bar to bar in the playground, and how he climbed up a tree at the fastest speed.
