Here is presenting to you... my future little one!

Look at how she resembles me - she too has hooded eyelids, snub nose, thin lips, donkey ears (ears that stick out) and natural wavy hair. The app damn pro right, it even knows I cheated through rebonding my hair. :D




And of course, not forgetting Simba and his kid!



The expressions they have on their faces is a prefect match! On top of that, they have protruding eyelids, straight-edged noses, thin lips and soft straight hair. Lol.

I hope the real future baby, who will inherit a combination of our features, will turn out cute. 

 (I do hope he/she will look more like Simba though, so he/she will be so much cuter!)

3,096 days, Cheonggyecheon, Seoul Museum of History.

Currently in Bangkok shopping at the night market with his colleagues now, Simba is living a idyllic life filled with euphoria without me breathing down his neck. He deserves to let his hair down after a year of no vacation and all the time being envious of me going to Korea without him. He even went for an exquisite manicure to adorn his nails with cartoons of Minions!

Simba tried also but his big fingers gave him away.

I appeared nonchalant about him not accompanying me for the weekend, and told him while he was away, I had tons of things to do in my alone time. Lol. It turned out that after my tuition class ended at 3.30pm today, I finished up a read I bought yesterday (aiya I always have that intense urge to finish a book as soon as I bought it since it's so addictive) and watched half an episode of Running Man, I had nothing to do except lazing around and thinking that if Simba were here in Singapore, he would take me to some movies and window shopping. So much for acting totally cool about no dinner and no shopping.
Anyway, he promised to get me rompers, dresses, bags and pumps! Can't wait!


The book I was reading was bought with Simba's Kino voucher which was given to him by his company (haha cheapo max. What are the odds of me actually going to buy a book right?). The book (3,096 days) was an autobiography of Natascha Kampusch, a girl who was abducted and held captive in a cellar at the age of ten for eight years and while in captivity she underwent brutal mental and physical torture from her malicious abductor. Gaunt and battered, she went into acquiescence and conformity, followed by depression and feeling sucidal and then the gnawing desire to escape from her martyrdom. I'm kind of into survival literature after being intrigued by a book I came across, a book about a man who was blinded by a violent attack and how he recovered from it, as I have been curious about the phases in the emotions of people who can brave through such extreme circumstances and eventually overcome it. The movie made about her is released currently and rated M18, I can so much foresee violent and overpowering images that will get me on the edge of my seat. Hence a book about it seems like a better and less offensive way to get to know about her, but now that I read through it, I felt deeply saddened by how a person can humiliate and torment another person so much and coerced him/her to do it their way, and I could conjure up images of the torture he put her through.


Finally got down to my 3rd day in Seoul. And we went to .... 

Yes, it's Cheonggyecheon!

We were on our way to the Cheongyecheon Stream, the stream where Running Man went to for the finale of one episode. Lol. Call me crazy if you want, but what the heck, Gelly^^.

I was stopped by Bro when he stopped by a booth that was actively promoting a campaign to protest against (buying from) Cort, a guitar manufacturer that mistreats its staff.

The description in Korean which we understood none of, so one of the protestors explained in a chunk of English words and we understood a little bit. I was not at all surprised when Bro bought a T-shirt at about $30 from them to show his utmost support!

And the stream where Gelly came to! Bro began flooding me with the history of Cort as we strolled through the walkway alongside the stream.

Lol. At the waterfalls with the 2 unglam shopping bags. I left them 3 steps down hoping that they don't get into the picture but Bro just captured a shot of me accompanying them.

A wishing well in the middle of the stream. Throw a coin in and make a wish, and it will be fulfilled!

The stream is popular among the kids, where they soaked their exhausted legs into the therapeutic water.

Hammering Man is a series of monumental kinetic sculptures designed by Jonathan Borofsky which have been installed in various cities around the world (from Wiki). The largest one is in Seoul!

We found our way to the museum without getting lost!

I always have a liking for inanimate sheep. Lol.

Good news for people who is gonna pay this place a visit - the admission is free! The museum staff was nice and gave us introductory brochures to get our way around the place.

Then to satiate our need for coffee to stay awake, we scurried for the first cafe in sight. Bene's outlets are everywhere in Seoul, in fact, cafes are very popular there. But again, the Seoul coffee is not so much of my preference! Waffles again. Bro loves them, I think I gain 1kg in Seoul eating them everyday. Lol. 

My waist was hurting so much after walking for quite a while and I had to rest every now and them. The limping is doing me no good; I better start walking right.

Bro wanna take a pic of the church as a memoir, but my pic somehow emphasised on the Gyeongbokgung Palace.

A shopaholic like me, Bro would never forget to put shopping into the itinerary so during night fall we were there at the Dongdaemun fashion area hoping to get some good buys!

The clothing market was a disappointment as the things sold there although inexpensive had nothing that both of us like. Bro bought a cap for his friend while I ended up with nothing. 

It was around 10pm when we finished shopping and all restaurants were closed. A street stall was just opened for the night but eating street food isn't his favourite thing to do since he has a weak stomach, so he combed the area searching for alternatives but to no avail. Unwillingly, he sat down with me at the stall and prayed for no diarrhoea.

A soup was served before anything else. We pointed at the can of Chilsing Cider from the next table to place an order for it, and to our disappointment, it tasted exactly like Sprite! Lol!

Finally after some exploration, we found a mall worthy to patronise and we were right; the apparels in this mall is more trendy and suited for adults in their mid 20s.

Eye Candy

Organic chocolates from Eye Candy for our lab as a way to thank us for letting him and his colleague use our incubator (Theirs is spoilt). :D

KP said he wanna eat them all the moment we got it so I hid it away until I brought my camera to take a photo the next day. Lol.

The day he asked, "Oh.. 你的脚还没好啊？” I was so over the moon! :D 
Told CS and he said, "Wa lao, many people in the company asked you many times how your knee is, u said they very 烦。Then when he asked, he gets a complete different treatment." LOL, of course la, Eye Candy ma!


Eye Candy and I have begun to be acquaintances. You know, those occasional greetings, smiles and goodbyes when we see each other outside our labs. :D We used to be complete strangers even though he works in the next lab. Researchers, you know how it is. They are always (I mean, forever) keeping to themselves.

Sorry... Just blogged about Gelly and now Eye Candy. Gelly is still the best! :D (I think I'm going to Running Man Fan Meet this Sept. Lol. I know the Energy days are long over and I no longer have the enthusiasm and the energy to cheer Gelly on with all my might but I figured that he doesn't understand English anyway, so it doesn't really matter if I cheer or not.)

Simba said he loves Gelly too after reading my previous post so I will make sure that he hugs him at the fan meet. Muahahahahaha! Evil intention to get him not to blindly copy me all the time.

Kang Gary

Gary and Ji Hyo were on opposing teams, and on the finale when his team has the winning edge over hers, he was sent by Jae Suk to find Ji Hyo and make her out of the game (by tearing off the name tag pasted on her back).


He found her hiding under a table and the moment he set his eyes on her, she flashed him a pitiful look and asked,



I think she meant, "Will you take me out and make me lose the game?" but it sounded more like "U wouldn't get me out of the game, would you?"
(I know the subtitle is abit misleading, I initially thought that she wanted Gary to rescue her from his team's pursue.)



Then he said,



(He meant he promised Jae Suk to get her out of the game so that her team loses.)



And he turned away from her...






And he asked (Running Man Episode 153, on 85:45),



"Ji Hyo, do u remember that rainy day?"

That rainy day, the day when he let her go free after she got caught by him (Episode 11)... 
Again the history repeats itself; he lets her go once more.


It's been 3.5 years but your love for Ji Hyo knows no ends.

Images of Singapore Museum.

We were at the Merlion the last time, the Merlion that dominates its surroundings with its towering height.

Afterwards, we paid the Images of Singapore Museum a visit. My first time to this museum and the experience was such a pleasant surprise! My bro said that Singapore is extreme in its pursuit to boost tourism; when she tries her best, she really tries and when she doesn't, there is no effort put in or action taken whatsoever. He said simply in Singlish, "Singapore is like that. Wanna do, do until world class, don't wanna do, then very cui."

Squatter settlement in the then Singapore. Many worked as labourers and had to bear with the harsh living conditions but were contented to have found a place they called home here in Singapore.

Lol! He always tries to move things that are unmovable, so I think he didn't know that there is no work done no matter how hard he tries!

Chapteh: Malay traditional game. U must be thinking where the chapteh is in this picture. Lol. I must have chosen the wrong angle in capturing this moment and also as unbelievable as it sounds, though I always check my photos after taking a photo, I did not realise that the chapteh was missing in this!






Illiteracy was common back then, so people who wished to keep in contact with their family (in those days, they often leave their country to come to work in Singapore) had to ask those educated men to write letters for them.





A typical fruit store. The exhibits are very realistic and are welcoming to visitors since there is seldom a barrier to hinder the "interaction" between the wax sculpture and them. Hence, the daring Simba quickly used two fruits from the fruit baskets as props for his picture with the fruit store. Oh how embarrassing can it get?

Gasing, or top spinning, is another traditional game popular 

among the Malays since the olden days.

Simba wanted badly to be part of the exhibition and went straight into the "shop", and carried a genial smile to stand tall next to the wax sculpture.

I was terrified to be next to them on the other hand as they weren't surreal like other exhibits that we have seen; they are so realistic, you will start to feel paranoid and occasionally think that they might just turn around and start talking to you the next moment when you aren't aware.

Then we entered an era of the Japanese occupation of Singapore, the dark period in which the Japanese soldiers invaded not only our land, but also tormented our people and stole our freedom.
And Simba was acting like some panda feasting on bamboos. Lol!

This was the part that I'm really drawn to, the shophouses that house the culturally diversified country people who were celebrating their festivals.

Old man with a bird in his cage. Didn't know what's the significance of that but well, we were so engrossed in taking photos that the main purpose of visiting a museum (that is, to gain knowledge through reading the information board in front of the exhibits) is lost.

A tantalising smell of the fruits that could not be resisted. Lol! Some people said he is shy, I chose to be in disbelief.




Thaipusam, a Hindu festival to commemorate the occasion when Parvati gave Murugan a Vel "spear" so he could vanquish the evil demon Soorapadman. To demonstrate extreme level of devotion and to request a blessing to be free of one of life’s ailments, some willingly pierce their skin for the duration of their walk and some choose firewalking.

Lion Dance, a celebratory dance presented by Nian, which according to the legend is a monster who attacks children during the Chinese New Year period and is afraid of loud noises and the colour red.

Firecrackers which have been banned in Singapore since 1972, after an explosion claimed two lives. Eating them, no matter how earnestly, is never a good idea.

CNY when the young receive packets of happiness and monetary blessings from the married.

He instructed me to position myself outside the shophouse's window to act like a prisoner, and one of the visitors, thinking that I was one of the wax sculptures, tapped my shoulders, so instinctively I turned, giving him a shock in return, and he apologized instantly and with immense sincerity. His cheeks were flushed; he must be so embarrassed!

The potential stay-at-home dad learning how to sew.







My words have fallen on deaf ears. He took the roasted pig from the plate so naturally that I was close to believing that it belonged to him. Roasted pig, a must-have in the Chinese wedding customary practice.

One of the Chinese pre-wedding customs - the hair combing ceremony conducted on the eve of the wedding. Blessings are said out loud by the bride's family members and they include harmony in the marriage, many children and grandchildren and longevity.

He scurried down the steps to say hi to my camera but it was just too bad that the lightings were not in his favor and that a passer-by photobombed. Lol.

Lantern festival to celebrate and encourage people to cultivate positive relationships between people, families and the higher beings that were believed to be responsible for bringing or returning the light each year.

We lolled about the area before heading over to visit the other 2 attractions, the extreme log ride and the Journey 2 the mysterious island 4-D experience!

There happened to be a lego play area for kids to listen to story-telling and appreciate the goodness of Lego figurines that still linger in their lives. Lol.

And we were at the cable car station ready for my first time riding in the Singaporean cable car! The fact that I have been in the Taiwanese, Hong Kong and Korean cable cars before the Singaporean one makes one wonder if I am truly patriotic like what I always claim to be!





Wedding proposal at Jewel Box after a ride in the floral cable car and he asked, "Oh do u want this?" And I exclaimed after rolling my eyes thrice, "Not anymore!"
Sometimes, Simba's such a blockhead, it may take a radical change to unblock his head! LOL!

Self timer shot. While Simba was shouting for me to take utmost care of the camera which laid precariously on the small ledge in the cable car, I calmed him down for a sec for our picture to be taken. Turned out to be good though he complained that he looked fat.

This concludes our trip to Sentosa on a Sunday and I hope the next time I blogged about Sentosa would be based on our visits to the SEA Aquarium and the Adventure Cove Water Park. :D
