Chia Liang's Wedding 19th Jan 2013

How's your 2013 so far?
:D
I hope it's great for ya!

Attended my poly classmate's wedding yesterday at Grand Copthrone Waterfront Hotel, the exquisite place of accommodation near Zouk!

Chia Liang, 2nd good friend to get married.

It was pouring since the night before and due to the rain, we were stuck in a terrible traffic jam for nearly 45 minutes and in the midst of it I regretted taking a cab. We could have reached earlier if we were to go by the cheaper mode of transport and I wouldn't have to suffer car sickness. The fare totalled to $16 when my house is not that far from the hotel. Aiyah! Nonetheless, I was thankful that the cab wove through the heavy traffic so that we could get there in time.

Kind of annoyed by the jam as the wedding was about to start (I don't want to miss any part of it) and we had to rush into the ballroom.

It was an exasperating moment for me when a lady who went into the elevator before us shut it right in front of us! I practically exclaimed out loud to Simba, "Why do such people exist in this world?!!" Think the bellboy heard my annoyance and went to press the lift button to get us into the lift asap. Lol.

Finally reached the reception and saw the groom smiling widely at us, followed by 2 of his best men Daniel and Jason who grumbled about me being so late. My anger ceased almost instantly as soon as I saw those familiar faces. While Jason opened the door for us and led us to our table, Simba whispered to me, "Hey, your mood really changes fast." LOL. Maybe he was doing the shaking head thing in his mind and murmuring to himself, "女人啊人."

Enough complaints from me. Here are the photos I took for the wedding:

The door gift. :)

The newly weds made their entrance not long after I took my seat.
I was pretty exhilarated that our table was situated near the aisle and thus my camera was not interfered by anyone's head! Managed to get a clear shot of the couple making their way in.

Chia Liang's wife, Audrey, chose a gown with corset details at its back, adding a tad of sexiness to the romantic touch.
Endless confetti were thrown at her gown lol.

The early birds. Jason is on his semester break and here in Singapore until mid Feb. We all miss that Jeff Wang Jian Fu lookalike so much lol.
Spot the 2 glasses of red wine? I got the waitress to pour us some as soon as we got there. Lol. The eat-and-drink-everything-worth-of-my-angbao is never once off my mind.

The boyfriend is here to include me into the picture!
Joanne, me, Daniel's wife Jasmine, Daniel, Song Hua and Jason.
I'm sure by now you must have known some of them from some entries of mine since 9 years ago.  Look at us the bunch of optimistic and cheery friends still looking young even after 9 years!

Our first dish, the appetizer was served soon after. A meatball was on Jasmine's dish when this picture was taken. I wanted to snap a picture as soon as the waitress placed this on our table but Jasmine was asking me some questions, so I didn't have the time to stop Daniel from taking the food and putting it on Jasmine's plate. Oh well, how can I stop someone from being nice to his spouse?

The prawns were chewy and sweet but were soon covered by the scary taste of baby octopus (I don't eat baby octopus but was tricked by Simba to try some) and I had to gulp down the red wine to dilute the overwhelming smell.

Our Wei Jian was paired with Audrey's friend to be the Emcee of the day. Wei Jian used to be our class monitor (long time never hear this word right!), camp head coordinator, and an active Engineering Sports Club main community member, and now a Dolphin Trainer at Sentosa. With such fantastic history of always engaging others and blabbering his way to the top, who can resist not asking him to be the Emcee for their wedding?

He was even thinking of being his own Emcee for his wedding and would be the busiest groom of all-time history!

Look at Audrey knowing that I am taking pictures in her direction. Lol.

Roast duck, one of my favourites in the wedding course meal.

The guys were betting their lives, no I mean a washing machine, on who would be next to get married after Wei Jian. Daniel pointed me out while Sam chose Ting. Daniel, being fearful of losing his bet and is terribly in need of a washing machine, said he would go an extra mile in helping Simba with his proposal. Lol.

Spring Roll with Pumpkin Sauce.

Then long-term best friends of the couple surprised them by giving a speech to bless them. Cool and touching.
The pretty girl's speech was funny. When Audrey first told her she had a boyfriend, she asked, "Oh what's he like?" And Audrey's reply was, "He is mature, serious, stern, bushy eyebrows..." The bushy eyebrows made us laugh.
And Chia Liang's best friend blessed them with lots of kind words and one love quote, and ended his speech with "You both have shown that first love can last..."
Awww.. They are both each other's first love and they decided to start living their lives together when Chia Liang was 17. It's been 9 years!

Wei Jian was standing behind these friends all the while and told us that although they appeared calm and spoke fluently, their legs shook violently! Lol.

While listening to their friends' speech, Audrey told Chia Liang to smile at the photographer. I think she is one who would always be there for the camera.
She changed into her evening gown which was flattering so I think she must have done quite abit of gown fitting to find something that looked like it was specially made for her! The guys were saying that she chose red to match her Chinese name, Hong Hong. Lol.

Listening attentively to their friends' blessings. As much as I wanted to stand right in front of the stage and get a clear and good picture of them, I resisted the urge mainly because I was quite shy. But having included their relatives beaming at them makes a delightful picturesque, don't they?

Champagne cork popping time!
I didn't realise that one of the roses from the decoration was in the way until I browsed through the pictures afterwards. Lol photography fail.
Laughter filled the room when the champagne cork was still in Chia Liang's hands after the popping sound was heard lol. I was even preparing to dodge the cork if it came my way but it turned out that no one is getting hurt after all.
Poor Chia Liang didn't know how to react and what to do with the cork!

Samuel caught my attention by obstructing my view and made the people on the stage his background.

Emcees cheering everyone on to prolong their "Yummmmmm Seng!"

The couple giving thanks to families and friends. The groom spoke with abit of stammering (understandable under such circumstance) and the bride waited patiently by his side.
The bride spoke with a wide smile spread across her face but choked up in tears when she was giving thanks to her parents. Friends and families applauded to give her encouragement in carrying on with her speech. Okay, I teared up abit when she teared lol but wiped them away as soon as they fell from my eyes so that friends at my table wouldn't discover.

Wei Jian got them to kiss under the arch of mistletoe. Let's take the floral decoration at the arch as a mistletoe alright?

The guys prepared a generous amount of wine to welcome the groom to our table. :D

Audrey wanted to leave her husband in lurch initially but was called back by us. :D
Chia Liang and his helpless look.

His best men were really supportive and helped him with some.

But Jason and Daniel didn't help. Lol.

Half of the time our table was missing 3 persons as these guys were either doing their duty as best men or hosting the event. I was feeling the brotherhood. Lol. Daniel, Jason and Wei Jian were such a sport and helped heighten up the atmosphere. Love them! The gate crashing must be a really fun one!

Wei Jian was sitting at the edge of his chair at our table since he had to get ready to go up on stage anytime he was signaled.

That was Sam playing with my camera. Every picture taken was blur as he accidentally switched the focus to manual.
Poor waitress got her picture taken and made fun of by Sam! He hor always make fun of pretty girls.

Once the focus was switched back to the auto mode, he became the photographer.

Congrats to Chia Liang for having found THE ONE. Stay blissful!

Makeover + New Hair Color

Hi dears, here is me faithfully reporting to my blog again lol!

I love CNY mostly because online stores always come up with oriental collections at this period; it's like a feast for the eyes. Of course oriental would equate directly to Cheongsam dresses and traditional Cheongsam dresses being silky, shiny and fanciful are kind of exaggerative and abit auntish (learnt this Singlish word from a friend and thought it's so cool) to wear for house visits so online stores manufacture Cheongsams with modern embellishment on them. And I really really love them!

Talking 'bout online stores, here's to again tell you something I did today. As I have mentioned in many of my previous posts, some hot favourite items on online stores were sold out in split seconds after the top/dress/skirt got released on their page. Simba wanted to go to Thomson Plaza today for dinner and I agreed with a little reluctance since I needed to be home by 8 30pm for the launch of one online collection. Lol. Though I decided to just use the 3G network in iPhone 4 to help me navigate through the site if I'm not home by 8 30pm, I knew that I could never win the girls who were waiting at home and using their speedy WiFi to place their orders.

It was 8 30pm and we were in the shuttle bus heading back to Simba's house. The page took about a minute to finish loading and another for me to load it into the cart. I grew impatient, my pulse went 3 times faster and my hands went cold while waiting, and Simba offered his 4G network. I took his iPhone 5 and started loading the page. Again it wasn't loading fast enough prolly due to heavy traffic, and by 8 34pm (definitely not exaggerating), the Floral Brocade Cream Pleated Dress I've been waiting for was sold out! :( Simba, having witnessed for the first time something online that could be sold out that fast, was utterly dumbfounded. After a few moments of silence, he burst out laughing until tears were seen in his eyes. I guess the reason he laughed so hard was that he couldn't understand how much an avid shopper I am. Lol.
I knew I couldn't compete with the girls who stayed at home at 8 30pm and started refreshing the page from 8 28pm, so for the next 2 Thursdays when Amber Avenue launches its oriental collections, I will stay at home and guard the page! IT'S WAR TIME!

For those going through a heartbreak, maybe a makeover will be nice for you to find a better inner self and gain more confidence in appealing to the opposite gender. :D Wishing you lots of luck on finding your more suitable half after putting in more effort in your appearance!

KP came to ask me for a makeover last week and we went shopping after work to give him something to fill into his near empty wardrobe. He portrayed gravest sincerity in becoming a more stylish person by setting aside a generous budget to get new clothes and shoes!

We went to Topman and Pull & Bear and got 2 pairs of jeans, 1 t-shirt, 1 polo tee, 1 shirt and 1 pair of shoes for just $400! 2 of these items were on sale at Pull & Bear, and we got them for $49.90 each! Gonna drag Simba there for some clothes snatching time soon!
I really had fun spending others' money lol. I even pulled out the cash from his wallet for him, counted them and presented them to the cashier with outstretched arms while he felt his heart ache literally. Lol.

Here's a walkthrough for his outfit:

All from Pull & Bear:
Fine Line Checkered shirt at $49.90 (on sale)
Slim Fit jeans at $49.90 (on sale)
Loafers at $149 (new arrival)

Simba said KP has the height and a slim figure, making him a good candidate as a model. :D
I thought it's a waste that he didn't work his figure to his advantage. If he was more attentive to what he wore for the past 20 years, maybe he is a more confident guy now. :D

Here's flooding you with pictures of Simba and I getting new hair colours in preparation for CNY:

I didn't really change my expressions as I was focused in hitting the "Snap" button of the phone's camera but Simba changed as many as he could manage.
iPhone 5's front camera is alot less grainy than iPhone 4's. I was really impressed by the pictures Miao took in USS with her iPhone 5. :D

Do you have friends who only take photos with their left/right side of their faces?
I tried it out and finally understood why. Lol. A side view photo makes the face appear slimmer (i think).

I'm a worrywart. I worry alot about his health every moment of the day. Hoping that his weight gain is really nothing serious. :)

Christmas 2012

The war has ended since I have simmered down. It was barely a fight actually. Cool. Simba initially advised me against the intricate battle, fearing that I would be totally worn out from it but since I insisted, he told me to fight for as long as it takes until they know I'm definitely not a pushover. But he added that no matter how frustrated I am, I am not to blow things out of proportion and allow myself to be vanquished eventually.

For this 2013, I wish more than anything else for Simba's health to be good. I'm very worried about his health as his sudden weight gain and some other symptoms he has now has a striking resemblance to a medical condition. He's gonna be reviewed by a specialist soon and I really hope it doesn't turn out to be something serious. Let's keep him in our prayers alright?

Hope your 2012 xmas was good!

Here to write about my Christmas with friends. :D

We met at Chomp Chomp for dinner and made a few orders that everyone would have if they were there too!

Kangkong

Took out my new camera to give myself a head start in my photography for the dinner and my guy friends teasingly went wow loudly and instantly. Hard to imagine them singing the same tune but they always did when they are in the teasing mood.

Fried sotong.

Omelette.

Satay.

We separated ourselves into 2 tables due to the large turnout. Though we usually don't like being separated as being involved in one conversation together will be more fun, but this time it was fine as the guys were palling around; they brought their food to our table sometimes to hear what we were conversing.

Mao Mao was at the table behind us and photobombed the other 3. His expression is so one of a kind!

Joe helped us with a group photo.
:D

And then Jun Wen helped; It's always been our friendly boyfriends to help the group leave memoirs.

They are really good at photobombing. Lol.

Jun Wen ordered Sambal Sotong from the wrong stall but luckily for him this one wasn't too bad since it incorporated a different flavor (curry)!

After the fulfilling dinner, we decided that Starbucks at myVillage would be a great hangout to practise the art of gift sharing.

Large candy canes decorated with gold-rimmed draping ribbons stood high at the seating area to give us a bit of christmassy.

While the others were ordering their caffeine drinks, we were hoping to get a taste of the candy canes.

Jun Wen and his best friend Joe.

Horsey looks have cultivated themselves into a form of entertainment for many whenever my friends met Jun Wen.

He was the first to open his gifts since he has got the least to open. Ying, who is always unconditionally thoughtful, bought cute wrappers to hold our presents and tied a small ribbon to make a neck out of them, but unintentionally reminded the guys of the Gardenia bread wrapping.

Ying bought him a coin purse with a small horse brooch attached to it. Ling and Calvin shared a PS game "Ghost Recon" for him. He was brimming with enthusiasm when he played it that night after he got home.

Next up was our sister Joe. He happened to open my gift for him in this picture. My wrappers were all from Gift Greetings, a contemporary gift shop which I thought has the best gift wrappers!

The first thought that came to mind was that he expressed incredulity when he saw the bottle of Body Mist. I didn't know why I had that thought but I could only hope that he would use it. Anyways, the Body Mist is Orange flavoured so he would smell like orange soon, and would be just in time to go for house visiting on the coming Chinese New Year. Bringing mandarin oranges aren't enough anymore, you need to smell like one to get loads of angpao!

Ultimate present of the day was Joe Boxer for the Joe!
Chocolates, Reebok shorts and handphone cases were his other presents. This time Jun Wen joined in the gift giving and chose his presents for my guy friends. :D

Like a child anticipating to open his gifts under the Christmas tree, Calvin totes reached his head into the bag!

The pair of Reebok shorts was similar to the one Jun Wen bought for Joe. :D I really haven't got the slightest idea what to get for Ling's boyfriend until Jun Wen came up with this gift thought. Every guy would need a sports shorts for gymming!
Body Butter and socks were also gifts to prepare him for the gym and post-gym.

Mao Mao opened his pressies gingerly which was as expected since he was such a gentle boy :) Lol.

Ling bought him a tool to hold the wine glass or something, omg I couldn't remember no matter how much i tried. :(
I bought the same bottle of body mist for Mao, so joe and him would smell the same from now on.
Jun Wen bought him a towel that has the smoothest texture (I used my unhygienic hands to touch it again and again, good luck to Mao lol). He lingered too long in Isetan trying to choose a towel for Mao that I nearly faint of exhaustion.
Ying bought him a Everlast pencil case I think (can't see too clearly from the picture).

Bought Shi Xing 3 pairs of boxers lol. The gift inspiration came to me when I recalled that he asked Ying to get a pair of boxers for him from Bangkok so yea Boxers.
He also was given a water bottle, a pair CK socks and an Everlast Tee.

Ying's presents that come in all colours, shapes and sizes.

My gift for her was a My Melody purse. I didn't give a second thought of buying it since it's really pretty; not only My Melody was sewn onto it but ornate lace details were decorated all over it.

For the sake of those who still don't know, Ying has been my colleague for about 11 months now! She is working as a Patient Care Assistant at National Cancer Centre, so she would have lunch with me at least once a week and would bring along her lunch most of the time, making the lunch box a perfect gift. :D

The present Ying ordered for Ling hasn't arrived and so in order to create an illusion that there was indeed a present, Ying still tied the empty "Gardenia Bread bag" with ribbons but slipped in an apologetic note.
A scarf, a Hello Kitty pencil case and shot glasses were what made up the rest of her presents. :D

Really like this candid since it showed that friends were indeed paying attention to the others who were opening their presents.

Got a pink cardigan, necklace and earrings from Ying, Mickey Mouse towels from Calvin, Victoria's secret underwear from Ling and shower gel from Joe.
This year's presents were the best ones for me. Lol. :D
原来,真的是一分钱一分货。I remembered telling PH how comfy the Victoria Secret's underwear felt (lol). Quality of Topshop's and La Senza's is nothing next to it.

:D

Anyways, since we were at Starbucks, do u often think that coffee choices in Starbucks are so few? That's prolly one of the reasons why I prefer Coffee Bean.. until Bi Er told us that we can ask for customisation of our order. Hazelnut Latte is one such order which smells great and is not on the menu!
