Scramble and Poster
Have u scrambled today?
I used to hate games that require any vocab. Haha! I'm a unwilling to learn, lazy person! But Jun Wen began playing the app "Scramble" with his company friends and kept losing. (LOL!) So we combined forces and won them occasionally. He then asked me to download the app so that we can compete and that I can compete with my friends too. And I was like, "No no, I can't download it. I'm afraid of losing." LOL.
It was until Colleague began playing the game and asked me to compete with him. Lol. And I downloaded it. Ooops! It's weird that u can reject your boyfriend better than your friend. I told CS the reason I didn't want to download it initially and he felt that I am so competitive! Lol. I didn't realise that! I am a competitive person in games. Competitive in such insignificant stuff.
Jun Wen won almost every round and mocked me whenever possible. Lol.
And I won Colleague in almost all rounds... Until he diligently read up and find out the meanings of those difficult words.. He is now a true competitor. Lol. Now I can't be complacent anymore! :(
Please add me in Scramble!
Oh I have got something to boast about. Remember the poster of my project I have been doing? My supervisor presented it to the European PDT Research Conference in Denmark. And we won the 3rd place! :D :D
The other colleague said I can put it in my CV under the Awards Section.
That morning I was sitting lazily at my work bench when my colleague came in and congratulated me.
Colleague: "Congrats!!"
Me: "Huh?"
Colleague: "Congrats!!"
Me: "HUH??" (In my mind I was thinking. How is it the case that I got married and I didn't know it before she does?")
Colleague: "U didn't know the news? Your poster won 3rd place in the conference!"
Wow right! I didn't know I can be so cool! LOL.
DJ has been encouraging me to go for further studies. Two weeks ago, she told me about a Masters degree in BioDesign that I could go for. It was collaboration between A*Star and EDB (Economic Development Board) and if I get in, I could study in Stamford University for 6 months and then in Singapore for another 6 months before I get my Masters. But I didn't apply.
I have considered for like a day and I decided not to sink deeper into something I have always have fate with but no interest in. Lol. Wish me luck for my future!

Bangkok 4
Have you started to collect the Hello Kitty plushies from MacDonalds? Jun Wen had. Lol. He loves the Ham burglar kitty the most. Since this version is out of stock in most outlets, he went to his superior and asked if he could have hers at twice the price. She refused to sell it to him! But he soon found out where he could get it and asked his colleague to buy it for him. It is now sitting in his office desk. Lol!
The first time he told me he wants to collect them all, I didn't seriously think he would. Lol. I thought he was going to collect and give them to me eventually, but now it doesn't seem to be the case. Sadded. Simba loves Hello Kitty! Lol.
My knee is swollen again. It is a tough period for me. Imagine yourself perspiring from a 5 min walk from your house to the MRT, and then another 5 minutes from the MRT to your workplace. It's how heavy the knee is. The doctor has performed a knee aspiration on me and I hope I will get better quickly. It's hurts when I stand, hurts when I walk, hurts when I sit down.. It is hurting every moment.
I felt quite guilty that colleagues have to help me alot throughout this month. :( They are very patient with me. Have you heard of this: Before you can help someone, acknowledge to yourself that you need help and you must learn to accept others' help. Sometimes, I feel bad about letting others help me. :(
I hope knees will get better and maintain well, and recover after the op. :D
Recently, I am feeling touched. My friends, family and Jun Wen's family have been showering me with concern. Thank you so much. The Earth has love (Direct translate from Chinese).
Another short entry on my Bangkok trip. Haven been in a good state to blog a longer post.
The link way from Bonanza Mall led us to MBK.
Had dinner at The Fifth Food Avenue.
It is something like Marche, just a whole lot cheaper! LOL. Whilst eating, you get to enjoy music played by the live band. :D
I ate Tom Yam again. Lol. Super Tom Yam Siao!
Where else can you taste the best Tom Yam?
Fruit juices are rich and pleasingly nice! Just like I tasted in Vietnam.
His curry with cone rice. It is characteristic of the curry-based food there.
Outside MBK.
There is a Tokyu Department Store next to MBK. Reminds me of the Tokyu Hands Dept Store that Ling and I went to in Japan.
The Night Market we explored that night was the Khlong Lod Night Market. It was a long ride here. And the cab driver was amazed that we actually knew this night market as it is not really commercialized and caters to mostly locals.
The Thais spoke Thai language to us most of the time. We only smiled and nodded. Lol. Only when we were interested to buy something, we would ask for the prices.
The "stores" there were really simple. The Thais laid out a mat and sat on it, with a small amount of things they intend to sell for that day.
One of such stores sold pet rabbits. I thought it was cruel to put these small rabbits in such small cages. Their movements are so restricted. Poor Bunnies! Hope they find good and compassionate owners soon!
The next day.. We went to 7-11 to find some breakfast.
They sell pork balls and can cook them for u instantly!
We rode in a tuk-tuk. Jun Wen's 1st time!
The 1st time I rode in a tuk-tuk, the driver was driving too quickly and I developed a fear for tuk-tuks. But this tuk-tuk was not driving as fast. I warned Simba beforehand and he turned out to be disappointed. Lol.
We went to MBK again since it was closing when we reached the night before. :D
Maxi dress from Platinum Mall.
Lol! He likes this kind of shots where he peered through some holes.
One of the restuarants in MBK. Food was quite nice. I love the papaya salad!
Tom Yam once more!
He would purposely order maggie noodles to annoy me. I would say it wouldn't be worth the price but he insisted that he loves it.
The unique papaya salad. Nice but a whole lot of spiciness!

Bangkok Part III
I came to a realization that if you want to save, you really need to take care of all your stuff. Seriously.
If u are careless like me, u can't save much cos u will use what u save to spend on what u broke or lost.
I broke my phone screen. The damage was severe near one of the edges, and the crack ran towards the left side of the screen and split right in the middle of Simba's face (I put us as the phone's home screen). My face escaped from those cracks!
A mishandling of my phone cost me $130! Omg. Simba said I might as well buy a new phone. But I don't like to change phones! I don't like changes, which is bad by the way, since people change for the better. I am stagnant and I love to be one stagnant person. Lol.
Tell me, you beautiful person, whether you lead a better life than me? I really really want to know. When you have better hair, better face, better ability and better everything, are you happier since people has nothing rude to say to your face? Well.. At least I think so. U know.. I recently read an article about an experiment a group of researchers did. They used 2 models and 2 average-looking persons to ask for help from passers-by. And yes, you are right. People go all the way out to help the 2 models.
It's 1:16am and I am still not on the main topic of my entry.
And yea, here is the focus of my blog: Bangkok Day 3.
I told him to pose outside the toilet.
He Free. Interesting way of expression.
Caught him sleeping in the cab. He can take naps anywhere we went, as long as we are seated down. Way to go, Simba!
We chanced upon a mall opposite Platinum Mall. I forgot the mall's name. Lol. Anyway, it is a wholesale mall for mostly pants, especially nice ladies pants for work. I got 3 for just SGD$24! Omg. The disadvantage is that u can't try those pants. But luckily they fit me!
I had Tom Yam again. Lol. U must be thinking how boring I can be. :D
He had Phad Thai.
His tee was newly bought. Bangkok sells many many vintage tees for guys! Love them!
We then went to Platinum Mall for abit more shopping! Had coffee and a piece of donut to keep us awake.
My very very thick coffee!
This shop is so cool. Love every piece of clothing I see. Too bad their prices are abit too steep. Lol. I mean not as steep as Singapore's. But I come to Bangkok to find only cheap stuff so this store is definitely way out of question. Lol.
Then we followed the map, intending to go to Siam Paragon by walk.
There is this bridge where boats are seen everywhere underneath. Great for photos!
:D
Passed by the residents' area. He was fascinated by their farm animals.
The row of houses where the Thais live in. Thought it was pretty unkempt and run down. The residents look lively and happy though. They offered their help in guiding us with directions to Siam Paragon. :D So nice of them! We even walked into their houses to obtain a short-cut there.
Their neighbourhood
And we reached!
Cool cars on display. :D
I look hilariously funny but I like it.
Outside Siam Paragon.
It's so cute that we kept on taking a group photo and trying to get the best shot when a guy appeared behind us and took a photo with us. It was so funny that another head appeared out of nowhere just on top of our heads. This is in Siam Discovery Center. All the stuff sold there is of normal prices but look really chic and trendy. I didn't buy anything too. Lol. Like I have said, I only go Bangkok to shop for cheap stuff. Not even a $20 blouse is cheap enough.
Love the Siam area. Shops near Siam square.
Lots of maxi dresses to choose from. Each costs about $12 only!
Our plan was to head towards Bonaza Mall first but we were too late! The mall closes at about 7 30pm, just like Platinum Fashion Mall. But we discovered that the Bonaza Mall is the linkway towards MBK! And this travellator leads us to the 3rd storey of MBK.
Swans by the travellator! Haha!
We only bought a few shirts from MBK. Those typical Thailand touristy shirts. Lol. Seeing me buy a few shirts, Jun Wen will always copy me and buy some too from the same store. :( :( I'm so petty I know!
