HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! A toast to all the couples i know! ;)
I am looking forward to this year's Valentine's! Cos previous years Simba and I were so busy with schoolwork and quizzes that we only spend the evening having a good dinner and then go home. lols! But this time i have no school on Monday and Simba is planning. YEAH!

On the fateful day (9th Feb), i dropped my hard disk hard on the ground and it crashed. I couldn't detect it on the computer lab's computers. I spent 1 hr plus in the train on my way home worrying about it and hoping that my own laptop will detect it. All my FYP stuff are inside!! I googled, "Dropped external hard disk not detected by computer." And all i get were negative comments! I heard the "click click click" sound made by my hard disk and it is actually known as the "Clicks of Death".

I was disappointed but mentally prepared for the worst. I got home and as predicted, my laptop couldn't detect it. I rushed to the Challenger store at Nex and the IT pro told me he couldn't do anything about it.

At the moment, i calmly asked, "Is there any way i can recover my data??"
He shook his head and i left. I was in a daze! i called Simba and teared.

My mind was in a whirl. I wasnt thinking right and i told him that i will call him later, and need to recover from my shock. I went home, lie on my bed for half an hour with my eyes wide open. I was so shocked!

Simba told me that it may just be a blessing in disguise!
After that Simba accompanied me back to school and I tried to redo my experiments. We stayed overnight and slept for an hour at the computer lab! It really turned out that I have better experimental results. Of cos I couldnt finish all in a night. It would burn some weekends to get them done. I felt quite energetic the next day in the lecture despite the lack of sleep but poor Simba was dozing off. ;(
Poor Simba has been my experimental subject throughout and I pumped the pressure cuff on him a couple of times and his arm got very numb. And in order for me to get good experimental results, he tried not to move an inch and pressed the source and detector light fibers so hard on his arams until they formed deep cavities everytime.

I didn't get to sleep until 10pm that day. Went to have a meeting with my phd student and it took pretty long. It wad tiring but i am quite lucky to have a nice phd student! ;)

The com lab computers have some of my data and I am so thankful. ;)
The hard disk has also many of my previous school documents and irreplaceable photos! But I always bucked up my data in Facebook and this blog! Perhaps I didnt lose that much after all! By the next day the sadness was completely gone. A few days later Simba asked why I recovered so quickly. He was afraid that I kept my feelings inside and didnt let them out. Haha. I said Simba helped me with my experiments and didnt complain about staying late in school or coming back on weekends with me on top of his FYP already and if I am still unhappy I am not being grateful and fair.

;) Please back up all your data. Never assume that your hard disk won't fail u, like I did.
Have a great day, my friends ;)

CNY 2011 & Eye Candy lookalike

Happy CNY!
It is the first day of CNY today. :)
Uncles and aunts again asked about whether i'm working or which year i'm in, or when i will get married.
Ate like i never eat for years. Haha! Chiong for free food 4ver!

Omg! My cousin (a year younger than me) is still serving his NS. After the 3 months in Tekong, he slimmed down. (He used to be a fat boy, but gradually losing weight). His features became sharper with a slimmer face & looks actually like my eye candy in Uni lols! Became really excited and showed my younger bro my eye candy's photo from Facebook. "He looks like my eye candy!"

And my mum has to peep at the photo i'm showing my younger bro and i said, "Mum, he looks like my... erm ... friend!" (If i say eye candy, i will be landing myself into deep trouble!)

I was thinking that i am so faithful in Uni! I only have one eye candy! I used to have dozens in poly! LOL. Now my eye candy is Jun Wen's FYP mate oops! :P

My uncle thought i went to work at Mediacorp. If u watch the 萤火虫的梦 or 想握你的手, u may have realised that one of the young actors looks like me. I have quite a few friends telling me that too.

Again, got laughed by my younger cousins for being so old.
Drank Honey Choya with my cousin and it was great! I love it.
Cousin said i always never contact her. She always has to take the initiative. Haha. Sorry cousin, i will ask u out when u are free k!

Had a great CNY. Hope yours is great too!

The iphone cover my cousin gave me. She ordered from Korea. I love it lots.

Happy CNY!
Often at the start of the year, i saw many blogged about the summary of the previous year and what they hope to achieve at that very year!

I shall do it too...
As many of u know, my life is not really ups and downs. It is kind of quite calm lols! Not really smooth sailing but just nothing really major happens.

Let me sum up the overalls.

Family 2010
I tried to talk more to my parents for the past year. My parents have always been nice, especially dad. I tried to listen more to my mum's opinions, although sometimes i didn't agree with her. Yeah.. I still lose my cool once in awhile when i find her quite unreasonable and stubborn.. Felt bad to say that. Maybe i should be more patient. Tried to stay at home more too and watch TV with them.

My elder brother has been improving his temper and i am glad that i don't have to stay in my room, thinking he will kill me sometime (LOL). He hasn't scream and hit things for the past year. And he has been lesser at home and started going out with his friends, which is good since he used to just stay at home for many days and be alone. I hope he can get a girlfriend soon.

My younger brother is still the same. Funny, vain, charismatic and well-liked by his friends. There's nothing much to worry about him. I can get along with him just fine. Was hoping that he could really achieve what he wants and needs in life.

Friends 2010
I am elated that i haven't lost any of my secondary school friends after so long. The attendance for our gatherings is always almost full or full. I think in year 2010 the frequency of our gatherings is higher than previous years & we seemed to be much bonded and closer. Thanks guys, i know i can always count on u all. :) I guess when we grow older, we are afraid of sharing our thoughts or ideas to people we know later in life. My secondary school friends are people i know since 13,14 or 15! At that age, we practically say anything that comes to our mind. We got close easily and the closeness stays till even now. Still, thanks for coming to me with all your problems! i am always ready to listen and help. :) They are the only friends i spent every birthdays, xmas, new year & CNY with. I can just be myself with them. i know we will still stay in contact when we can hardly walk and remember each other's names. Maybe our gatherings will be the visits to the polyclinic.

With regards to my poly friends, we meet lesser the past year i suppose. I guess everyone is pretty busy. Jason went to Australia and only comes back like twice a year? Of cos, it is great that we still meet up & always laugh like crazy everytime we meet. Facebook has helped a great deal to keep us informed of each other's updates. (Oh pls don't worry, i am never a stalker!) I always enjoy all your company!

Love 2010
My relationship with Simba has gone well and i hope we will continue to stay happy with each other's company. He has been awesome. He accepts me for who i am and never tried to change me. He guides me in doing better, corrects me gently when he thinks i am wrong and encourages me when i feel so down. He never once did lose his patience or temper with me. I guess a wise man is never an easily angered man. My gratefulness for him has gone far beyond words.

School 2010
I did my Industrial Attachment during the first half of the year and as u know, i had a great internship! My supervisor and colleagues are very nice people. :) I really enjoyed my days there and kind of missed it.
The second half was Final Year Project and 4 modules. It was a hectic semester with so many formal presentations, so much read-up & research and a strict Prof. I am relieved that i survived it and my exams turned out to be okay. One of my modules is Astronomy and I really like it! :)

After all i have said, yeah! Year 2010 seems great for me! Hope yours went well too.
Year 2011 will be better don't u think? :P

Sorry Samsung Pixon M8800.

U are indeed very beautiful. U are metallic pink. All my girlfriends who love pink love u. They were full of envy when I first got u. They kept using u to take images of them. I love u too. I love the icons on u and love the pictures u took of me or for me. But u changed few months after i bought u. U start to hang and not vibrate when i got a call or sms. U also can't withstand the change of weather. When i came back from Japan last Dec, u completely hang! I send u to the hospital and u made a slow recovery. U stay alright for another few months until i entered my new office that has ultra strong air-con. U CMI (cannot make it) again. I can't lock u. If not u will disallow me to call and receive any calls. Since i can't lock u, i will accidentally call the person i last dialled. Since u are out of warranty, i can't send u for therapy anymore.

I tried my best to keep u in a perfect condition. U are the first phone I totally took care of since u look too beautiful. I can swear that u have only a small scratch after these years. But u failed me again and again.
I have to let u go.. I am sorry..

I'm disappointed in Samsung.
Ling said Nokia always lasts me! lols! i think that's very true!

Introducing my new phone...

An advanced V Day present since Samsung Pixon has died on me! :D

Taiwan Day 5

The makeup lesson was enriching. Now i know the correct order of applying and the correct colours to apply!
The spokeperson was pretty, charismatic and has green-greyish hair.
I like her hair colour. It just seems to shine under white light.

Simba bought me Her World magazine and we spent our time reading it in the Spinelli Cafe. Loving my dates with simba.

It was the 2nd last day of our Taiwan trip and we were really sad. Didn't want the days to pass so fast :(
We were proud of ourselves for 'roaming' successfully in this foreign place.

Photobucket

We also take a morning photo in front of the mirror every morning!

Good morning mirror!

Photobucket

The other breakfast house

Photobucket
Yes, i'm very tired by day 5. My eyes betrayed me. Simba woke me up so that we don't waste time sleeping lols.

Photobucket
Toast bread to be safe. U can't go wrong with just toast (except when it's burnt)!

Photobucket

Watery eyes! So tired! Purple contacts. The Taiwanese were very friendly. They will ask me about my contacts and recommend me places where i can get cheaper color contacts. (They are of the same brand as Singapore's but they are half as cheap!)

The other things they noticed about me is my teeth, my height (But they very tall meh??) and why i kept smiling. lols.

Photobucket

We change train at 忠孝复兴站 and pretended that we went there :P
We intended to go but didn't have time :(

Photobucket

In the brown mrt (brown muzha line) to the Taipei Zoo Station. We wanted to take the cable car! It is a very short and cramped train with few seats.

Photobucket
We were in the train and passed by this tall tower. Simba quickly asked me to take a photo!

I was so much in anxiety when i took out my camera and captured this! It was a near maximum zoom but the effect turned out good!

Photobucket
I took note of everything i saw, including this SHE advertisement board. CUTE!

Many animals drawing on the walls of Taipei Zoo Station.

SO CUTE! I love this pic. He sure has creative poses. Two fat pandas and 1 slim one!

Photobucket

My tanktop and shorts from ShiDa Night Market!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Simba's new Sasi bag from Shi Lin Night Market! Nice right! My choice.

Photobucket
MacDonalds' burger seats.

We walked down from Taipei Zoo Station to Mao Kong Station. The sun is so scorching!

Photobucket
Simba's sneakers that saved my feet from pain.

Photobucket
Finally reached the 2nd Taipei Zoo Station after such a long walk in order to take the cable car. hehes.

Photobucket
Our plan for the day:

We bought the 3-2-1 tickets!

(3 cable car stops, 2 internal bus stops at Mao Kong Station and 1 internal.. (i forgot!)

1st stop: MaoKong Station

2nd stop: Taipei Zoo South Station

and from the south station, we can walk back to Taipei Zoo (main) Station, taking photos of animals on the way back.

Photobucket
I quickly kapo all the brochures from the stand nearby while simba was queuing for the tickets.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Before hopping into one of the cute cable cars. I was choosing which cable car we would take. I hoped it would be the cutest one like the pandas prints on it.

Photobucket

We shared the cable car with 2 Hong Kongers. They smiled and we smiled back.

I should have smiled first hor! If not, they think Singaporeans are dao people. I was just thinking about some pride problem lols! What if i smiled and they don't smile back?

One of them were afraid of heights. She screamed when the cable car makes a slight turn or jerk. Her friend had to help cover her eyes whenever she tried to look down.

I wasn't afraid, i enjoyed the ride very much! I enjoyed looking down at the green grasses.

Photobucket

Photobucket

We spotted an isolated someone in the grassland. He may be a botanist, who knows!
HAHA. Lovely work, camera! It can zoom very well.

At the next stop, the Hong Kongers alighted and a group of Malaysians boarded. We got one to help us take this photo. Love the scenery behind us. I volunteered to help them too but the 6 of them can't squeeze into the photo. The best i can go is to stand up as far as the length of the Gondola could take me.

We finally reached after the long ride. Mao Kong is well known for tea culture (tea houses, tea exhibitions and museums). :)

Photobucket

Photobucket

The cute bus. It was packed... We had to wait for the next one.

Photobucket

We waited so long for the next bus and it was the 'red' route where the bus would pass by only a few tea houses and a museum. We made do with this route and chose the Teapot Museum. We intended to go some big tea exhibition but this bus didn't go there.

Photobucket

Here we are. How do u read these Chinese characters?
It is a tiny museum and is attached to the small house where the owners live.
I was wondering it must be so inconvenient to live here since it is so far away from Taipei Main Station.

Photobucket

Photobucket

We paid SGD$5 for the entry ticket and were given a Mango pudding and a bottle of mineral water each. We had to finish our mango pudding here before going upstairs to view the exhibits.

Photobucket

Our tickets :P

Photobucket

Yes, it is fixed..

They hung the Gondola ornaments. Nice.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

We went one floor up and were disappointed to see only the rooftop.
There happened to be a chair and we used it lols. It is really a mountainous area!

Photobucket

Photobucket

We ended our visit pretty soon and waited for the bus back outside the museum.
Decided to head towards the zoo.. It wasn't in our itinerary cos it was planned by me. But simba was thrilled to see the zoo once we reached.
Hence, we shortened our time at Mao Kong and used the leftover time to spend in the zoo.

At the souvenir store.

The biggest mochi

Photobucket

We bought a few packets of their local products and a stick of mochi.
Had never seen mochi in a stick!

And we had a look at the biggest and oldest turtle.
It was too bad that it always hid its head under the grass.
We can't get a good picture out of it. :( Maybe it's too shy.
