Blogger doesn't allow me to upload any photos. Does anyone know why?
Okie, so no photos today. I realised i have turned more and more talkative. OMG! I just can't stop talking at work. And i can't sit still. I must walk around and talk, talk, talk. I never used to be this way. I was a quiet Primary kid. Not so quiet in secondary school, but still quiet. I only talked to my close friends. Once in poly, i tend to open up more to my friends. Talk to more people. But people must initiate to talk to me 1st. NOW? i initiate! Jun Wen says he gets along better with chatterboxes and i am one of them.
There was a confirmed h1n1 case from our polyclinic few days ago. He came back from overseas and has fever, flu and cough. Thus, he was not allowed to come into the clinic. He had to sit outside the clinic and the doctor will come down in his mask and gown to examine him. And the ambulance will come to send him to TTS hospital.
We did this to other patients who came back from overseas and have fever, flu or cough. So don worry about me or coming into contact with me guys! I dont think i will be infected. And i think my immune system has built up! i didnt fall sick this 2 mths when junwen has fallen sick twice.
As they have set up another health monitoring station in the polyclinic, i went to the new station to help out. And I get to take my patients' blood pressure. Hahas quite fun!
Other than
- giving out quene numbers
- taking temperatures
- keying in patients' datas
- tying masks for patients
- registrating patients for flu clinic
- being the clinic's information counter (walking directory)
I learnt about how the polyclinic runs.
Now i get to act professional haha.
I have to ask questions like,
"Sir, do u smoke?"
"How many years have u been smoking?"
"How many cigarettes do u smoke per day?"
"Do any of your family members have coronary heart disease?"
And i get to ask the patient to relax and not cross their legs during the blood pressure taking. PRO HOR.
Then i key in the patient's data and wrapped the cuff around his arm. The nurse taught me how to wrap it properly. They even have bigger cuffs for fat patients and small cuffs for children.
And the patients will think i am a nurse. hahaha. They will ask me questions like, "Is my blood pressure normal? What is the normal blood pressure range? What do systolic and diastolic means? What is coronary heart disease?" And i felt so happy sharing what i have learnt in school with them. I think i really like the medical line.
I took my own blood pressure and i got low blood. Oh no! I didnt believe and tried a few more times. But the result is still the same. I GOT LOW BLOOD PRESSURE! No wonder i feel like fainting when i am at home. I thought it is because my mum kept talking to me.
I really like taking the elderly or the very sick patients to the nurse. I held this blur elderly man this morning. He didnt talk at all. And my colleague has to steal his ezlink card from his pouch hanging from his neck. I asked him the reason why he is coming to the clinic. He just looked at me with a blank face. So poor thing! He held the asmatic device and so i asked him whether he is feeling breathless. And no reply again. So i just guided him to the nurses and told them he is asmatic. The nurses immediately flashed that worried look on their faces. And they can be really fast in treating him.
And my desire to be a nurse becomes stronger.
Sarah is now studying nursing in NUS. She is one of their 3rd batch of students. I didnt know NUS has nursing! If i knew, i will apply for it. But still, BioEng is quite okie! My 2 colleagues were from BioEng too. One graduated from Ngee Ann poly and the other NUS. And the NUS guy couldn't get a job and so he took up a temp job first. This is worrying me. Omg! And the funny thing is, he share the same name as my dad. Whenever i call him by his name, i feel like i am disrespecting my dad. HAHAHA.
Some of the small nurses there look so happy. They care for one another. They work from 7am to 4pm. And after work, they will tell us their husbands are waiting outside to fetch them home. So sweet! I want to be a small nurse too!
Or if next time simba sponsor me with a shop in town, i promise to work hard as a lady boss. I will make my shop look soooooooo nice! :) I will handpick the clothes myself and put them on the mannequins and put them on display. Then every now and then, i just go for some high tea and leave my salesgirls in the shop. I will definitely treat my salesgirls well! Maybe i bring them out to dinner once in a while.
I smile because i am happy now. I smile because i believe in the future. I believe there are better and happier days ahead. Yeahs!
