Past Photos III (2007-2010)

Still haven't had my braces done! I know many of you have shown your concerns about it and it's almost felt like I was feigning my enthusiasm in getting my two rows of teeth fixated with metal wires but I promise I am going to get them done soon. By soon I mean Jan or Feb 2013, at least sometime when the good leg will not still drag along the bad leg to the orthodontist. To be brutally honest, the reason behind my procrastination was initially the promised amount I would bank in every month with Jun Wen which left me little to spend on luxuries like braces, and then it was the post-surgery concerns; I didn't want 2 parts of my body to make my life a misery concurrently. So yeah, I hope these are good excuses!

What actually spurred my determination on doing braces was that CS did them 2 weeks ago. We were procrastinating together for a long long time although his was longer, but he decided not to anymore after an encouragement from our intern Crystal during one of the lunch time talks. When I came back to work last Thursday, the first thing he did when he saw me was to flash his metallic shimmering piece of metal wire to me! My first thought was that he looked like a secondary school kid. Lol! The coincident thing is, my primary school friend, Yina, now a well-known singapore blogger and a proud online shop owner just got back her naked set of white neat teeth after a year or so of having braces and she looks fabulous with that beautiful smile! I want that smile in my wedding album too muahaha so Mr future Dentist I need you to work your magic on my complicated set of teeth and get me that smile just in time for my wedding shots okie?

I found a superb bridal studio that houses many impressively elegant wedding dresses! :D Again I need to state a disclaimer here: What I meant was I found a bridal studio where I could SUGGEST Jun Wen to voice his opinions about the gowns there. I don't wear the pants in the house, so please don't think that I'm bullying the Mr Good-Natured Guy right here. Lol.

Still in the mood of having ample older photos to show.. :D

Neoprints on our 21st birthday.
Ling suggested to have our 1st neoprint together with the guys as a keepsake. :D

At VivoCity when it first opened. :D Love this picture of us looking great and having wonderful smiles! Girls with Daniel in the noon.

Girls with Jason at night using the same angle.

Dinner buffet at Carnivore.

Movie after dinner. We portrayed our support for local production by watching "Where Got Ghost?" together.

Our first movie as a couple. :D

Settlers with sec school friends. Smart ass me triumphant over winning a game of Smart Ass lol.

Joanne's birthday in Zouk! Joanne and Daniel trying out shots of Blow Job. Lol.

We were there before 10pm and got to enjoy the happy hours 1-for-1 alcoholic drink treat!

Jun Wen was there too with Jason and Daniel.

Dinner at Modestos in 2008 where I tried out good food whipped up by the chefs there but haven't been there since then. My colleagues, after skimming through my last entry entitled "Past Photos II" commented that my face used to be fatter but actually I don't see much difference although quite a few others said the exact same thing too. Perhaps it's the subconscious mind that constantly resists the change brought about by time since I always feel like youth has been sticking with me throughout the years so the baby fats will never go away! Lol.

We were only in our early twenties 4 years ago. What's better than having youthfulness to flaunt man. The world must be our oyster at 21 years of age when we first savoured freedom and independence!

Found this while leafing through my old blog photos. Jun Wen also used to look out for any camera in sight. Look at him putting aside his favourite fish ball noodles just to present his best for a picture. C-U-T-E!

This was when I have gotten my pair of spectacles after much procrastination! Jun Wen who has perfect eyesight was more excited than me and wore it right after the purchase.

CNY's eve with cousins in 2009, a time when polaroid cameras came into trend.

2009 was also the year the H1N1 virus broke out, and part-time admin assistant jobs for clinic came into great demand, hence I was offered one as soon as my exams were over. This was Fiona and I during on our last day of work at Geylang Polyclinic.

Not forgetting my first and only neoprint with Simba. He couldn't contain his excitement while being cuddled by a koala!

He has such big eyes that work to his advantage! #envy

Life was spent with him not only after school hours but also during lessons in NTU. Life in NTU for me was definitely not a stroll in the park but thankfully I have a great mentor to take me through all these sucky school days.

A time when he got his new haircut at Toa Payoh.
He liked to keep his hair gold throughout the schooling days as he found black hair unappealing. However after setting his foot into the work society, he believed that a dark hair colour suits a working professional better so now he is keeping his hair colour in a tone near to black.

EEG experiment in lab. Our coursemate Oleg volunteered to be the subject for this particular session!

Spent 1/4 of my university days using Nokia N70 which was pretty obsolete even then, 2/4 using this pink Pixon 8800, and the rest using iPhone 4! Decided on this pink phone as I thought its back looked so alike to a camera and it had a resolution of 12 Megapixels which was pretty advanced at that time. All the above photos, other than neoprints and those with poly friends, were taken with this camera phone. Photos looking good don't they?

Most of our birthday celebrations were done in school with a presence of a birthday cake. Was surprised in a good way by the many presences of birthday cakes in the many celebrations with my uni clique since the cakes in the past birthday celebrations I had with either my family or other friends were replaced by delirious dinners filled with laughter and happy noises.

Dyed my hair to a brighter tone whenever Chinese New Year approaches. It's funny just thinking about how Ling and I went all out to experiment with hair dyes soon after graduation from secondary school. During the following CNY, I went visiting my relatives and my aunt actually thought I dropped out of school and got my hair dyed like ah lian after that! Lol.
Ying always likes her hair gold for all the years I have known her.

The younger boys in 2009. Now they are deemed as men in my eyes since they started dressing in formal wear when we gathered.

Whenever we weren't buried beneath assignments or studying for tests, we went out to take a breather!
This was him in Chinatown experiencing the CNY mood. The Ralph Lauren polo tee was given by his hall mates as his 24th birthday present.

More eating! This was at Hotpot Culture in Suntec. We ordered everything we want to attempt in one shot; the table couldn't contain them all and we couldn't finish them ultimately. We are such food wasters.

Although no more food could be swallowed, my stomach will always be there for fruits and desserts. :D

Carine's birthday at Sudoku, Marche Jap style. Donuts from Donut Factory were the hype at that time comparable to Koi and Gong Cha now and we used them as a creative representation of her birthday cake!

Any long service award for a frequent attender for any friends gathering? I think I may have won the 2nd or 3rd place in it for proudly attending almost all gatherings initiated by Ting or Daniel.
This was 2009 CNY steamboat dinner in Samuel's house!

Sang our hearts out after dinner.

Also took an adventurous trip with Ling to Japan in Dec 2009 and experienced the winter season for the first time!

Maria, me, Miao and Ling at our ex secondary school after someone on Facebook initiated an Alumni meeting. The building has expanded and beautified itself so much that we couldn't recognise it anymore.

Had my 2nd CNY celebration in Jun Wen's relatives' house in 2009.

CNY at TW's house in 2009 getting ready to shout well wishes once we raised our chopsticks up high with yu sheng in between.
Let's zoom in on Mao Mao's hair!

House visiting has always been customary among us. After a visit to TW's house, my house was welcoming to them too.

2009 Valentines' period in Clarke Quay. :D

Good night everyone. Gotta sleep like a dead log now to make my tomorrow a better day. Life's good now that I can feel the strength in the quadriceps of my operated knee after a month of being uncertain about my recovery. Finally, it feels like a part of me.
