GE 2011

Hey friends! I think this is the first time for me and the friends around me to have the opportunity to vote. I think all of us are kind of excited, so much so that we talked about it when we meet. Simba and I have been following election news all the while. I know again, it's so unlike me to go political, but it's fun to join in the fun this time.

My birthday pictures can wait but election cannot since the voting starts this Saturday! Want to tell u my views!

We came across a funny blog that talked about solely our Singapore government. It is quite offending and so i shall not introduce it here. But the point is, this comedian blogger uploaded this rally speech given by Teo Ser Luck at Pasir Ris Punggol GRC rally on April 28th. Simba then showed it to me!

And it is real funny how this MP led the crowd into cheering! :P Very cute!

I thought he sounded like a pastor.

Teo Ser Luck: "We will listen to u. We will think of a better solution for u."
Pastor always tells us to be a good listener and helped others in need.

Teo Ser Luck: "Passion, passion. Great service attitude which i can assure u all that all the candidates for Pasir-Punggol GRC, Seng Kang West SMC, Punggol East SMC have in them. They have their hearts in their right place to serve u.
Pastor always tells us to have passion in whatever we do and serve with a great attitude.

Teo Ser Luck: "We will be truthful, be humble, but we cannot do it alone because we need all of u."
Pastor always tells us to be humble and learn from everyone.

Teo Ser Luck: "And I'm asking u from a practical man who just wants to serve, and behalf of my team I'm asking u for your support."
Pastor always tells us to be a servant to people, to serve with a humble heart.

Teo Ser Luck: "To vote wisely, for someone who cares, someone who serves with heart."
Pastor always tells us to care for and love people.

Wow! The fact that he kept repeating words like "serve" and "heart" made me 90% sure that he is a christian. And.... I googled him.. He is a Catholic!

Here is a full version of his rally speech:
(Please be patient and finished watching it.)

I thought he spoke very well and looked very sincere. But this video has received only 10 likes, and instead has 112 dislikes out of 4,461 views. Maybe the dislikes were biased towards his random cheer in the end.

Many commented that he is very handsome. HAHAHA. So i wiki him and found out that he is born in the year 1968! He is 43 years old when he looks like 27.

From Wikipedia:

Teo Ser Luck (simplified Chinese: 张思乐; pinyin: Zhāng Sīlè (born 8 June 1968) is the Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports and Ministry of Transport, as well as the Mayor of North East Community Development Council. He is also a Member of Parliament (MP) for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC.[1]

Mr Teo became an MP in 2006 after the 2006 general elections, a six-man People's Action Party team, of which Teo was part of, contested Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC and defeated the Singapore Democratic Alliance with 68.70% of the votes.
Mr Teo is the Chairman of the National Youth Council and also the Chairman of the Young PAP, the youth wing of the People's Action Party.
He led Singapore’s successful bid for the inaugural Youth Olympic Games (YOG) to be held in 2010 and was an advisor to the Singapore 2010 YOG Organising Committee.
Mr Teo held regional management positions in multinational companies for more than ten years. Prior to politics, he was heading DHL Express (Singapore) Pte Ltd.
Recognised as a young global leader by the World Economic Forum in 2007 for his contribution to the business and community services sectors, Mr Teo has received accolades as an outstanding manager in operational excellence.

A former student of Rosyth School, Victoria School and Nanyang Junior College, Mr Teo graduated with a Bachelor in Accountancy from the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and began his career as an auditor.
Teo is also the former President of the Old Victorians' Association, the alumni body for Victoria School and Victoria Junior College.[2]
He also received the Outstanding Young Alumni Award from his alma mater (NTU) in 2007.
Born in 1968, Mr Teo participates in triathlons and marathons and has completed four Ironman races. He is married with two children.

See! He is so talented and capable! An all-rounder also. I read up more on him and knew he also took part in Swimming and Sprinting when he did his Junior College. He came in third or fourth place in school for Sprinting.

Sidetrack abit: Omg, most importantly, he was from Nanyang JC and NTU! Same as Simba. Maybe Simba can be an MP one day! LOL LOL! And he took part in Ironman triathlon races. Maybe I can ask Simba to take part too! LOL!

And here are 2 videos of him.
After seeing these videos, u also know that he is humorous, humble and very charismatic.

Now, u may be thinking.. okie, I've seen these videos and so what? Let me tell u...!
The PAP only only takes in the best. Teo Ser Luck impresses me, and i hope he did impress u too! U may have encountered the flaws of PAP: the overbudgeted YOG, the rising housing prices, the overwhelming intake of foreigners.. etc etc. But they are still a transparent, uncorrupted, committed and competent government.

Initially, I wanted to vote for the opposition party not because I am anti-PAP, but because there should be some opposition voices to add opinions for the PAP. Wanna just to give the opposition party a chance, maybe they will do it well. And of course, secondly, I like Nicole Seah. (LOL, i'm in the area of Marine Parade GRC where Nicole Seah and Tin Pei Ling are.)

However, Nicole Seah is a fresh emerging face who can amaze everyone with her good use of inspiring words. Despite how powerful her words are, she is still young and inexperienced. No matter what she says, we can only see her potential for now and we dunno how to measure how well she can convert her words into actions now. (since she has not shown us yet.)

Especially after seeing Xia Xue's blog (www.xiaxue.blogspot.com) about Lee Kuan Yew, I was reminded again about his greatness. I guess i dont have to repeat how great he is! Like my friend said, we should be grateful. 飲水思源.

And she also mentioned about the NSP. Their experiences and achievements don't look impressive enough.

Now u should know which party my vote goes to.
And of course, lastly, i should never defy the orders of the head of my family (DAD). LOL!

And younger bro came into my room yesterday and asked, "Are u voting for NSP?"
Me: "Erms..! See how lohs.............."
Him: "But hor, Goh Chok Tong is Marine Parade one lehs!"

And the day before yesterday,
Younger bro: "I surely vote for PAP lahs. Otherwise, no one to vote for. (Maybe he doesn't know voting happens because there are 2 or more nominees.) What is NSP? New People's Party?"

This is a very BIG hint!

i asked dad if the voting would take long and he said, "Oh, wont lahs! U just have to go and register with your IC, take the ticket, cross the checkbox and put your ticket in the voting box."
And me being always trying to annoy dad and mum, said, "Can i put a tick on the checkbox?"

And dad, who genuinely thought that i genuinely didn't know said patiently, "Oh cannot. The TV says u must put a cross."

And mum shouted, "AIYO! Tell u put cross then u put cross la!!! Why u wanna create trouble?"

LOL!!
