Hong Kong Day 2

Actually I always wish for a job which has repetitive patterns and does not impose any stress on me. Lols. I know I am a slacker. But I always get a job that requires me to do and learn new things all the time. Like my past internship and my Final Year Project. And now the job at National Cancer Centre. I hope for a job that ends at 6pm everyday and the rest of the time from 6pm at about midnight when I sleep is mine. I wish I wouldn't have to spend another second thinking about work or rushing work reports and findings after 6pm. But I know this wouldn't be possible if I have chosen this job. Omg! 67% of Singaporeans overwork. I wish I would be the 33% but I don't think so. Lols. It's sad that I couldn't be a slacker even at work. Hahahahas! I can choose to not be a workaholic, can I? :( Hopefully the research scientist is kind and understands that I need rest after work. I hope she wouldn't be so hard on me.

And I will be injecting cancerous tumours onto mice. The poor mice. I am so sorry. Still, I am terrified of starting work. Omg. At least the researchers, my interviewers, look like really nice people. I hope i will find joy in my work. :D

The HR from HDB called yesterday for me to go for an interview as a Customer Service Executive and I rejected it. It's sad for me cos I think this would be a more repetitive job for me and will have less stress on me. Lols.

Simba said I shouldn't have gone for the interview in the first place if I didn't want to go into research. But I said I didn't know how to turn down my Prof's offer! Omg. I am such a silly person.

Hopefully, 傻人有傻福. Simba was called for his 2nd round of interview at Defense, Science and Technology, Agency (DSTA). Wows! Hope he gets the job! Yea!

Shi Xing has informed us that 'Human Centipede II' will be screening in cinema theatres soon. We were disgusted by the movie since it was reviewed that it was more gross than the Saw series and is sick. Lols. After which, Simba went to watch 'Human Centipede I' online. Lols. And he watched it with the headphone I bought him, which means the sounds of pain and sorrows inflicted on the victims will be many times louder than usual. I bought the headphone from my friend's blogshop: http://www.monsterwee.blogspot.com/

Simba and his younger brother like it alot. :D They are using it to watch dramas and listen to music.

My friend is selling headphones, earpieces, LED watches and LED shoelaces at a good price. If u see anything u like, please tell me and I will contact him for u!

By the way, I watched the whole Fringe Season 1! From ths series, I learnt a term on something that I have experienced before and it is called Deja Vu. It is the experience of being in a scene or place that made u recall u seem to be there before, even though u didn't. :D Sometimes, I get that too. I'm sure u have this experience too!

Day 2 of Hong Kong!
- Golden Bauhinia Square
- Big Buddha
- Fashion Street
- Temple Street Market

Photobucket

In the hotel lift.

Photobucket

It was weird in the morning when I switched on my camera. The screen was blurred out and I didn't know why. It happened to Simba's camera too. We thought it must be the morning sun.

Photobucket

Look at how misty the images turned out to be!

Photobucket

After a while, our cameras' screens became clear. We were supposed to reach the Golden Bauhinia Square to watch the flag raising ceremony but were running late. Then we decided to forget it and stop by a 7-11 store to buy our breakfast.

Photobucket

One part of the store that sells breakfast. Thought the sausages looked delicious on the menu but we were so wrong! :D

Photobucket

Photobucket

The noodles and the sausages taste very weird. I was tired and hoping that the breakfast would perk me up but to the contrary it made me duller than usual.

Photobucket

Photobucket

On our way, passed by the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center.

Photobucket

Opposite of the center is the fire station~

Photobucket

Walked to a nearby park. There were many different kinds of statues that caught our attention.

Photobucket

Sorry! Not a pose-r like Simba!

Photobucket

Then some auntie shouted at us in Cantonese but we couldn't understand it. Lols!
I asked Simba if the grasses there are steppable and he told me not to be so sensitive! Lol. And it turned out that I was right. The grasses are too valuable to be stepped. There is a sign that says, "Please do not step on the grass."

Photobucket

Finally reaching after a long walk.

Photobucket

Walked by a seaside where construction has destroyed the nice scenery.

Photobucket

Photobucket

CCB Bank! Lols!

Photobucket

A very tall monument near Golden Bauhinia Square.

Photobucket

Yes, we brought our grad gowns there too! Lols!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

And we reached! This is known as the Golden Bauhinia Square, named after giant statue of a golden Bauhinia blakeana at the centre of the area, situated outside the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, where the ceremonies for the handover of Hong Kong and the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region was held in July 1997. A flag-raising ceremony is held every day at 8:00am. It is considered a tourist attraction.

The sculpture, a gilded flower bauhinia, is 6 meters high. The major part is composed of a bauhinia on a base of red granite pillar on a pyramid.

The sculpture is deemed an important symbol for the Hong Kong people after reunification. On the second day of Chinese New Year and National Day of the People's Republic of China, the square is lighted up by a firework show.

Photobucket

Unlike in Vietnam where we get alot of attention by wearing the gowns, the locals don't have as much curiousity. We felt less awkward taking photos too. :D

It was going to rain and that explains this unclear photo! Taken by iphone.

Photobucket

Simba with the giant Trophy Cup and the 3 flags.

Photobucket

Photobucket

One more using the camera.

Photobucket

Simba insisted on taking funny photos. He climbed up next to the lamp post and did this. Lols. He hid his lower arms into the gown so that his bare hands won't be exposed. Lols!

Photobucket

Then he removed the hood and instantly looked like a pastor. Lols.
He wanted a low angle shot so as to be different from others. U know alot of girls like high angled shots cos in their opinion, the photo will look nicer.

Photobucket

Feeling my face flushed with embarrassment by the looks of some passers-by, I took off my gown and took photos by the seaside. Reminds me of ours, the one outside Esplanade.

Photobucket

I was wearing shorts by the way. The blouse is too long and I didn't bring any leggings to go with it.

Photobucket

The "Pastor". Still hiding his arms in the gown.

Photobucket

Finally he removed his gown. The guy was so thick-skinned. Lols. He did many hilarious poses with the gown that attracted some onlookers but wasn't at all embarrassed. LOL!

Photobucket

Went back to take a front view photo with the Cup since it was surrounded with many tourists when we first arrived.

Photobucket

Fountain that we passed by on our way to the hotel to put our gowns.
I changed the mode of the camera! The colour combination made the photo look nicer.

Photobucket

After much walking, we arrived at the hotel! This is Simba at the hallway.

Photobucket

Found a tea cafe to have our breakfast. Spent only $3 per person to get a big breakfast with HK Style Milk Tea.

Photobucket

He did this.

Photobucket

And I dunno why I was persuaded to do this as well. Omg!

Photobucket

Simba and his breakfast. 2 omelettes, 2 slices of bread and 2 pieces of ham!

Photobucket

What I found different from Singapore. The seats are a bit cramped and are of bench form. So whenever the restaurant is crowded, the staff would usher u to sit with someone else and u have to limit your movements while u talk, if not risk hitting the person sitting beside u. In Singapore, we would queue outside even when there is room for 4 with 2 people sitting at a table.

Photobucket

My guo tie as breakfast. Their dimsum are just as advertised, very nice!
By the way, did I tell u that the locals aren't very friendly people? They are less friendly than the Vietnamese and the Taiwanese but more friendly than the Thais.

Photobucket

We headed to the Admiralty station to get our Disneyland tickets but the train customer service officer directed us to buy our tickets at Disneyland itself. So we exited the station to see if we could find anything interesting around there. We chose a street known as the Stars Street and went into this grand building. I think it is meant for housing offices.

Photobucket

Photobucket

And after we found nothing interesting there, we went to our next destination, Tung Chung, where we had to take a cable car to see the Big Buddha.

Photobucket

Our familiar Gong Cha is there too.

Photobucket

His way of saying hi to Tung Chung and feeling excited about it.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

We walked to the Cable Car Station.

Photobucket

And gotten ourselves flyers. I love grabbing all these flyers at a foreign place even though I didn't read them in detail. I just enjoyed the fun of taking them.
:D

Photobucket

While queuing to take the cable car.

Photobucket

The cable car counter. We could choose between the Crystal Cabin and Standard Cabin. The Crystal Cabin would be one that has the glass we would be sitting on made transparent. And considering that I have phobia of heights, we took the Standard Cabin. It is cheaper too!

Photobucket

Photobucket

The tickets and the map.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

The detailed sketch of the place we are going, Ngong Ping Village.

Photobucket

Still in the queue to buy tickets. It was a very long queue!

Photobucket

In the cable car. It turned out that we had to sit in a direction opposite to the cable car's. Yes, u got it. I felt nauseated due to cable car sickness. Lols!
The cable car took us into greater heights where the air pressure was alot lesser. I wasn't exactly feeling too well. :(

Photobucket

Photobucket

We reached Ngong Ping after a long ride in the Cable Car. Luckily, I held my vomit in my throat. Lols. Sounds so disgusting.

Photobucket

This is really funny. His head is too small and he stared in with big bright eyes.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Ngong Ping is also well-known to be a place for their Shaolin Kungfu.

Photobucket

The souvenir shop. There are plenty of such shops there.

Photobucket

Simba went to the toilet upstairs and I didn't know he was at the bridge. I was just taking photos of the bridge before I caught him, a pair of big eyes, staring at my camera.

Photobucket

Photobucket

We also bought tickets to a theatre that screens the story of how Buddha came about.

Photobucket

We get to choose which language we want to hear. I chose English and Simba always begging to differ, chose Mandarin. The locals translated Mandarin as their standard language, 普通话, instead of our popularly known 華語. I think we blended into them. Most of the staff thought we were locals. Lols! Luckily Simba knew a little Cantonese but his knowledge is very private limited. He translated some sentences to me secretly.

Photobucket

Photobucket

We went into a shop filled with cute mini toys vending machine. There was machine full of Cinamonoroll stuff. But we couldn't figure out how to use the machines since some of them don't have slots for us to put in coins. :( We were trying very hard to find those slots when a lady came in with the intention to buy something. We stood behind her and watched her use her Octopus card on a system found near these machines and press the button on the machine of her choice.

Oh I was very angry that there are no allowances for coin slots in those machines I like and that we didn't buy any Octopus card!

Photobucket

While I was thinking hard on how to get help, I caught Simba taking his One-day tourist pass and using it to assume the identity of an Octopus Card. Lols! So funny! He really thought that it would work~

Photobucket

One such cute machine that I would never have a chance to buy anything in it.

Photobucket

There are also exhibits of cable cars from different countries. This is a cable car from Germany.

Photobucket

Brazil. I like the green and yellow combi! Couldn't open my eyes due to the sun.

Photobucket

Reaching somewhere near the Buddha.
Simba was exaggerating about the size of the Buddha and I didn't really believe him. I told him that he would be disappointed. Turned out that he didn't.

Photobucket

He wasn't disappointed since the sign was "Go to the BIG Buddha."

Photobucket

The flight of stairs that tests everyone's endurance and patience in order to reach the Buddha in the sky.
My knees were extremely shaky on my way up. I was feeling the phobia of heights right up my spine. Poor me!

Photobucket

I took photo of Simba as he walked nearer and nearer to the Buddha. TheBuddha was getting bigger and bigger in my camera screen.

Photobucket

When we reached under the Big Buddha. Underneath the Buddha is a hall that houses ashes of the deceased. I think it must be very expensive to earn a place there. And relatives who want to visit them would have to take a cable car and walk up the flight of stairs.

Photobucket

Photobucket

The view of the mountaineous area from up there was awesome. But poor me was having a nervous feeling that I would fall if I looked down from this high up. Didn't dare to go near the edges.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Going down soon after. There is a museum in the hall too. The entrance fee wasn't cheap and we decided not to explore since no photos are allowed in there. It is weird that Simba and I only went to museum that allows cameras. If not we find it meaningless to go to since we would forget about it soon.

Photobucket

After that we went to the Temple Street Market. Like the Ladies Market, there wasn't much things to shop or buy! Yes, u are hearing it from me and so u have to believe that there was nothing to buy. Most of the things they sell are repetitive and of poor quality. Most were imitation goods. Not nice!

Photobucket

Many Bubble Tea outlets there too.

Photobucket

Simba wanted to go into the Dragon Shopping Center because the reason was lame. He likes dragons, imaginary animals. Went to Mac to buy drinks and the whole Mac was Kungfu Panda theme!
So cute!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

The uncle taking a rest at the MTR, waiting for the train to take us back to the hotel. He complained that neck pain, sore legs and back pain throughout the trip to annoy me!

Photobucket

I bought a Cinamonoroll at SGD8 that can record our voices! And had fun imitating the Hong Kong accent in speaking English. :D

Photobucket

And I bought something interesting! 3 pigs for SGD$0.30. I used to have this tutee who likes to play with sticky stuff. She bought a slimy green stuff from Toys R Us that sticks to everything. These 3 pigs work on the same logic. They stick to one another or onto someone (Simba, the guinea pig in this case) when I threw at him. Cool right! I told Simba I must buy something very stupid every trip we go to!

And a very nice bag I bought was set as the background of the pigs. Show u all next time!
