Convo Ball

Late on my entries. As usual. :D
Blame it on the Big Bang Theory episodes. Lol.

Watched 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' yesterday night and found out that I have another phobia. Phobia of apes! Lol. It was a PG movie (with violence content) but it scared the h*** out of me! The apes, especially the main lead, Caesar, look as if they bore 10,000 years of grudges when they are agitated!

My heart felt so heavy and troubled when I came home. I didn't have any troubles but I knew there is somewhere in me that went really wrong. Maybe I felt bad that humans took apes as experiments. But I think the phobia of apes were stronger. So horrifying! It took 3 episodes of Big Bang and some comforting words from Simba to calm me down.

So due to my unexpecting fear of apes, I like 'Horrible Bosses' better! I did have some entertainment in parts of the movie when Simba suddenly turned his head to face me and act like an ape. Lol. There is this part where the human rode on horses to fight the gorilla and the gorilla attacked a horse and he shouted "NOOOOOOOO!" It was real hilarious. Lol. (Simba loves horses, in case u dunno.)

Anyway, I was wondering how the apes in this movie appeared to be so realistic. Turns out that a technique known as Motion Capture is used. It's cool to know that Motion Capture is a technique that records movements of human actors, and use the information to animate digital character models in 2D or 3D computer animation. This means that they have a bunch of actors imitating monkeys and the programmer guy detects their movements and uses them as the movements of the digital apes. Haha, I think I made the explanation more confusing.

Also, I was watching National Geographic in Hong Kong about a plane which crashed into a neighbourhood and exploded. There was this fireman nearby and he witnessed the whole incident. He said his visions turned brown and unclear during the time when he saw many body parts lying around. The doctor explains this situation as that our brains made our visions fade and eventually blurred so that we can handle a tragedy better. And we do not recall much of the tragedy after that. We do have smart brains, don't we?

Had my convocation ball last weekend.
I paid a makeup studio to do my makeup and it turned out to be a big mistake! Lol. The makeup artist pounded the thickest foundation and made my face age by many years. I was so disappointed! Went to reduce some make up afterwards. She threaded my moustache away. Lol. The fake eyelashes she put on for me has caused a great deal of pain and I have decided since then not to touch any fake eyelashes anymore!

The hairdo was okie, making things better.

Simba dyed his hair and we were ready by 3 30. It was really early and so we went to Hong Kong Cafe for some milk tea.

Photobucket

I was there with the exaggerated hairdo and makeup! Brave right!

My first time to Shangri La Hotel and it was an eye opener. The hotel is so grand! The lightings were so strong that we always couldn't get good photographs out of our cameras.

Photobucket

My camera! Failed. It is always blur and yellow without flash but extremely bright with flash.
Others tried their cameras but failed too.
We reached at 6 15pm exactly and took photos with the early birds. So this is the entire strength that reached punctually, which is like 8 of us. Lol.

Photobucket

The juniors (organisers of this convocation ball) took a polaroid for us and said there would be prizes later on for the group with the best design on the polaroid.

Photobucket

With lots of coursemates later on at about 7pm. Some of them looked so pretty when they dressed up. Looked totally different! Make up is truly a powerful tool. :D

Photobucket

Me, Hooi Ling and Kwai Han. We found a background for this photo. In front of a door. And it looked as though there is something growing on top of Hooi Ling's head.
Kwai Han thought I was trying to bring out an Indian look. Oh so sad. This means the intended Grecian look has failed big time. :D

Photobucket

And kind Hooi Ling volunteered to take a photo of me and Jun Wen.

Photobucket

Not so clear photo but look at his face. So epic! LOL.

Photobucket

Simon who is always chatting someone up.

Photobucket

Si Ying who can talk to anyone and everyone. She wore a hairband with a very pretty flower on it. Almost laying my hands on it and taking it home.

Photobucket

Si Ying and Simba.

Alot of coursemates were so occupied in taking photos. The men would put their hands over the women's shoulders for every photo. I think only Simba didn't and the girls stood a distance away from him since I was the photographer. LOL. I didn't wish for this to happen! I certainly hope for a more natural photo with Jun Wen. But well.. They were just being considerate.

Photobucket

People at the same table: Kevin, Si Ying and us. Our table number was lucky 7.

Photobucket

Our doorgift was a waterbottle with our names printed on it. Lol.
It was too big a gift that everyone has to carry it and not put in their bags. You know how small the handbags that girls bring to prom nights and how guys wouldn't bring any.

My poor stomach went rumbling when I was taking this photo. I should have predicted this to be just like a wedding dinner whereby the dinner itself starts at 8.

Our host was Daniel Ong. My favourite DJ since poly!
Most humourous DJ. He said something that made an impact: "I used to be a DJ on FM98.7 and I'm the most expensice DJ that.. (a good amount of pause).. NTU can afford." He kept us very entertained throughout the night. Especially during a technical fault in which he went on blabbering what is termed as non-sense. Okie, nonsense.

Photobucket

The spoon and chopsticks have a place to rest their heads on. Lol.

Photobucket

First dish came at 8 I think.
The music set in and the waitresses performed by taking rounds and rounds of many tables carrying the dish until it stopped. At that moment, you would feel like yelling at them to just put the food on the table.
I adjusted the camera setting which is most suited for taking photos of food. The outcome was not bad.

The waitress would carry a huge dish to our table, tell us the name of the dish, describe its ingredients, place the dish on another table, split the food into 10 plates and then bring to us plate by plate. LOL. Alot of steps to serve one dish.

There would be always one extra plate of food and Simba was always eyeing it. I didn't know that he was trying to hint me to take some off the extra plate for him until the 3rd dish when he finally opened his mouth and said, "Erms.. Do u wanna have the extra plate?" And I knew he wanted it all for himself and so I let him pretend that he was giving some to me. And when no one was looking, I passed them all to him.
By the 5th dish, he whispered, "Erms.. let's not waste food. It is Shangri-La food." And i offered him the whole extra big plate. I knew exactly why everyone else was talking but him. Great tactic to gobble up all extra food... in secret *soft whisper*. Please forgive the uncle. He is going to be in his 30s.

Photobucket

One nice shrimp on one plate.

Photobucket

Still interested in this head rest for the spoon and the chopsticks.

Photobucket

When it was time for the best dressed nominees. Yeah, my friend Bi Han was one of them. She was utterly shocked when her photo appeared on the screen and Daniel Ong announced "F3, Bi Han!" Lol.
There was a pageant standard Q&A followed by a catwalk session.
I wanted to take a photo of Bi Han's catwalk pose but the waitress interrupted me at that very important moment. :(

When she came back to the table, she told us she was tricked. She came quite late that day and he dinner has started. The organisers wanted to take a photo of her and she initially refused. They then told her that it was compulsory for everyone to have their individual photos taken (which apparently was not). She agreed and her photo was presented on the projector screen. Oops.

Photobucket

Our usual self. Taking photos with food.

Photobucket

They hired a band which is really good and a beatboxer who is really talented too.
The band "Rubber Band" has performed at many occasions and we knew why after they started singing.
The beatboxer once took part in Singapore Idol but I couldn't recognize him, I'm sorry. Si Ying was so fascinated by his talent. He uses his nose and mouth to make music. We dunno how he does it but he did it. Just like magic!

Photobucket

Again, photo taking time after the dinner!

Mr. Eye Candy went up to Simba to talk to him, and again I just turned mute. LOL. Simba then asked him to take a photo with us (LOL!) and when he agreed, Simba turned to me and asked, "Should I stand in the middle or should I switch places with u?" LOL. Well, I kept quiet and Simba still stood in the middle, and the photo was taken... by Eye Candy's camera. And he didn't put it up on Facebook so I will never get it. :( :(
Lol. Simba is always surprising! I have to clarify that I didn't in the first place ask Simba to request Eye Candy for a picture together.

Photobucket

Wei Lun, Mr Property Agent, and us.
He asked me to recommend him to anyone who needs to buy houses. So if u need any house, please tell me and I will pass u Wei Lun's contact.

Photobucket

Us and one of the best dressed nominees, Li Li.

Photobucket

With Bi Er and Linda.

Photobucket

Then some of us went to The Loft for a drink. (Recommended by Kevin).
The bar is on the rooftop and so u are able to see the Singapore Flyer and the boat-shaped casino from there. Nice view! Some friends said they have gone to this bar for birthday celebrations! :D
Was yawning all the way in the bar. It's a long day but well-spent.

Photobucket

And some photos of Simba and I at the new Lido.
We watched 'Horrible Bosses' that day. Highly recommended to watch. :) Very very funny. Still loving comedies.
Btw, Simba's t-shirt was seven evil dwarfs bought in Hong Kong. Nice right! I chose it, haha.

Photobucket

Nice view of Ion Orchard.
